Library (in-process chat)

Usage and cost totals are persisted in the shared home ledger at ~/.framers/usage-ledger.jsonl by default, so wunderland status, app.usage(), and session.usage() can all inspect cumulative model usage across separate runs. If you want a different shared file, set AGENTOS_USAGE_LEDGER_PATH or WUNDERLAND_USAGE_LEDGER_PATH. If you want Wunderland-only isolation, pass an explicit config-dir override.

For config-backed agent runs, Wunderland also writes dated plain-text session logs under ./logs/YYYY-MM-DD/*.log by default. Disable that with observability.textLogs.enabled=false, or move it with observability.textLogs.directory.

Why createWunderland() instead of AgentOS agent()

Wunderland intentionally keeps createWunderland() as its public library entrypoint.

  • @framers/agentos exposes streamlined helpers like generateText(), streamText(), and agent() for lightweight in-process usage.
  • Wunderland layers additional runtime behavior on top: curated tool loading, skills, capability discovery, approvals, extension loading, adaptive execution, workspace policies, and preset-driven configuration.

That means Wunderland should document the AgentOS high-level API, but it should not replace its own runtime with agent() until that helper covers the same operational surface.

Orchestrated execution with wunderland/workflows

Use the AgentOS orchestration builders for authoring, then execute the compiled graph through Wunderland so you keep its tools, approvals, extension loading, and runtime policies.

  • toolSelectionMode automatically falls back to all when discovery has no usable tool hits.
  • Adaptive degraded mode can force all tool exposure for recovery.
  • Tool schemas sent to OpenAI-compatible providers are normalized to valid function.name values automatically.
  • Optional strict mode: set toolCalling.strictToolNames=true (or WUNDERLAND_STRICT_TOOL_NAMES=true) to fail fast on rewrites/collisions.

What is Wunderland?

Wunderland is a free, open-source npm package for deploying autonomous AI agents. It's built on AgentOS with security parity tracked against OpenClaw (see OPENCLAW_PARITY.md), adding:

Live emergent-tool management is seed-scoped: use wunderland emergent list --seed <seedId> against a running backend. Without --seed, the command stays browsable in preview/demo mode. For authenticated backends, set WUNDERLAND_AUTH_TOKEN; for local/internal backends, set WUNDERLAND_INTERNAL_API_SECRET.

Emergent tools can also be exported and reused across agents. Use wunderland emergent export <name|id> --seed <seedId> --output my-tool.emergent-tool.yaml to write a portable agentos.emergent-tool.v1 package, then wunderland emergent import <file> --seed <seedId> to load it into another agent catalog. compose tools are portable by default. sandbox tools are portable only when the package includes source code. Redacted sandbox exports remain useful for audit and Git review, but they are intentionally not importable into another runtime.

Set OPENROUTER_API_KEY as an environment variable to enable automatic fallback routing through OpenRouter when your primary provider is unavailable.

OpenAI OAuth (Subscription Login)

Use your existing ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo) or Pro ($200/mo) subscription instead of a separate API key. This uses the same OAuth device code flow as the Codex CLI.

Provider support: Only OpenAI is supported for OAuth login. Anthropic, Google, and other providers do not offer equivalent consumer OAuth flows, and using session tokens from their consumer products violates their Terms of Service. The auth system uses generic IOAuthFlow / IOAuthTokenStore interfaces, so additional providers can be added if they offer legitimate OAuth APIs in the future.

Sealed Agents

Agents support a two-phase lifecycle:

  1. Setup phase — Configure LLM credentials, channels, scheduling, personality traits
  2. Sealed phase — Lock behavioral configuration permanently. Credentials can still be rotated for security, but no new tools, channels, or permissions can be added
